hey maduari idiot, don't feel intolerant about the development of our trichy city, who knows may be the existing airlines operating from madurai gets suspended from 01-06-2010. We definetly get some day a direct air connectivity to all south -east & south -west asian countries. Madurai is developing (!!!!!!!!) on political shadow but trichy is not like that, it is developing without any influential from any political parties. May not now, some years later you madurai people will come to trichy for better professional & academic life, already a lot of madurai people are living in trichy with better life style than what they don't got in your madurai. Keep in mind one thing, no investors from any part of world will come to madurai to start any kind of industry or concerns since madurai is full of rowdies, gang leaders.

Lanka to purchase Chinese aircraft

Sri Lanka is to purchase six turboprop-powered MA60 transport aircraft from China with the help of a Chinese government preferred loan scheme, an aviation website quoted an official at Xian Aircraft as saying.

Sri Lanka is to receive two of its MA60s this year, with the remainder to be delivered in 2011, says the Xian official.

Sri Lanka's ports and aviation ministry confirms that the country is in negotiations to buy six MA60s for the air force. Four of the MA60s will be dedicated for use by the service, but the other two may end up at state-owned carrier Mihin Lanka, it adds.

The Sri Lankan air force currently relies on Antonov An-32s, Lockheed Martin C-130Ks and Chinese-built Harbin Y12s for its transport activities.

Chinese firms are helping to finance and build airports, roads and other infrastructure in Sri Lanka, and Beijing often makes soft loans to such countries, the aviation website reported

Winds of change: Jet to restart Shanghai flights

1 Mar 2010, 0106 hrs IST, Nirbhay Kumar, ET Bureau

NEW DELHI: Naresh Goyal-controlled Jet Airways plans to revive its Mumbai-Shanghai-San Francisco air service following a recovery in international
air traffic.

The airline had earlier withdrawn its long-haul flight due to economic downturn resulting into poor demand on the sector.

“We can start our flight to Shanghai any time,” an airline official said on condition of anonymity. The airline would also launch a flight to Johannesburg next month.

The official said the airline already has government nod to operate daily flights to Shanghai. “When we last started flight to Shanghai the load was below 50% making the operation commercially unviable,” he said.

Jet Airways has seen a significant jump in traffic on its foreign routes and is currently managing a load factor of over 80% on several routes including the long-haul flight to Europe and North America.

When contacted a Jet Airways official spokesperson said the airline keeps evaluating various routes for operation. “We can not confirm the plan to restart flight to Shanghai at this point of time,” she said.

With the world economy rebounding in recent months, demand for air travel has significantly improved encouraging airlines to add capacity on their network. “The traffic on the India-US sector has gone up nearly 20% compared to last February. Although traffic to Shanghai is very limited, the onward traffic to the West Coast including San Francisco, Las Vegas and Los Angeles is quite good,” Amadeus India managing director Ankur Bhatia said.

Jet Airways also plans to introduce Mumbai-Colombo flight
. It already has a Chennai-Colombo service. Following the economic downturn, Jet Airways put on hold its plan to expand its international network. As per official data, international traffic from and to India has increased 12% in the last few months. The two BSE-listed airline companies Jet Airways and SpiceJet posted profits of Rs 105 and Rs 109 crore respectively in the last quarter on the back of improved traffic and yield.

Jet Airways! why not make this Mumbai-Trichy-Colombo and Colombo-Trichy-Mumbai so that our Trichy is connected with Mumbai.

PLEASE DONT LOGIN WITH GUEST AND INFORM UR NAME.

SOMEBODY ELSE SAY THAT IS IT PANIPAT WAR. WHY IT HAS BEEN HAPPENED? DUE TO UNNECESSARY INTERFERENCE FROM THE MADURAI BLOG IT HAPPENED? WE ARE VERY DECENT AND WILL NOT INTERFERE IN ANY OF THE MADURAI'S FORUM. I SAW SEVERAL FALSE MESSAGES AGAINST TRICHY IN THE SKYSPERCITY FORUMS BY THE MADURAI GUYS. KERALA HAVE 3 INTL AIRPORTS COMPARING TO TN 1. LET THE MADURAI GUYS SUPPORT TRICHY AIRPORT SHOULD GET THE INTERNATIONAL STATUS FIRST SINCE IT IS SERVING INTERNATIONAL ROUTES FROM 1980S AND BEFORE IN 1940S. TRZ AIRPORT ALWAYS STANDS FOR ITS INDIVIDUALITY AND NOT GROWN ANYBODY'S SHOULDERS. DUE TO ITS POTENTIAL AIR ASIA COMMENCES THE OPERATIONS TO TRICHY FIRST DESTINATION IN INDIA. ALL ITS GROWTH HAPPENS IN ITS OLD TERMINAL ONLY. I THINK POTENTIAL IS FIRST RATHER THAN CONSTRUCTING BIG TERMINALS. DO U KNOW CALICUT IS A SMALL AIRPORT AT ONE STAGE LATER ON IT DEVELOPED AS A INTERNATIONAL STATUS NOT IMMEDIATELY. MADURAI FIRST DECLARED AS A CUSTOMS AIRPORT AND FIRST START ITS INTERNATIONAL OPERATIONS. IF REALLY MADURAI IS BETTER THAN TRICHY BY PROVING ITS PASSANGERS GROWTH BY ATLEAST 50% IN THE I YEAR WE ALL TIRUCHINAS WOULD SUPPORT MADURAI FOR GETTING INTERNATIONAL STATUS.

DO U REMEMBER THAT WE NOT OPPOSE ANY MOVE BY CREATING MADRAS HIGH COURT BENCH AT MADURAI. WE ALL WELCOME THE MOVE. I EXPECT THE SAME GENEROUSNESS FROM THE MADURAI GUYS

It is not the total population but the "population that travels" should be taken into consideration.
