Seenu Ramasamy to shoot film in ‘Clean Chennai’ Trichy

Quote:
Tamil film director Seenu Ramasamy has for the first time decided to shoot his upcoming film in Trichy. He was able to make up his mind after noticing the cleanliness maintained in the city.

"I find Trichy a clean Chennai," said Seenu while interacting with students of EVR Periyar College as part of Sangamam, the annual alumni meet at the college, on the birth anniversary of rationalist Periyar E V Ramasamy.

He is teaming up again with actor Vijay Sethupathi for his upcoming film after the success of 'Dharmadurai' . "Since I belong to Madurai it was obvious that I have the story line based in the rural part of my region," he said in reply to a question from a student, "but now I am convinced that I should shoot my next film in Trichy."

Reiterating on his anti-NEET stand again at the event, Seenu explained how he draw inspiration from DMK leader M Karunanidhi on chosing effective tittle for films. "Who would think about naming a film that speak about atheism after a Hindu Goddess unless Kalaignar," said while referring to famous Tamil flick Parasakthi of Karunanidhi.

With all praise for Rajya Sabha MP Trichy Siva, Seenu said that he drew inspiration from the historic private bill that Siva brought in the Parliament to promote transgender rights.

Mentioning a scene from Dharmadurai which speaks on transgender rights, Seenu has expressed his willingness to cast Rajya Sabha MP Trichy Siva, who is also patron member of the alumni association, in his film.

While Siva chose not to comment on the film offer, he expressed his satisfaction over seeing the large gathering of alumni unlike previous years. He asking them to make it a point to come to the college every year on alumni day and contribute to the development of the college.

Over 100 alumni of the college came for the alumni meet along with their family members. Retired Tamil professor C Nagarajan, and retired English professor K Natarajan also shared their memories.

Trichy among Satyam Cinemas Radar

Quote:
Sathyam Cinemas is expanding its chain across the South with an additional 25 screens by March 2018.

Sathyam Cinemas currently has 50 screens across Tamil Nadu, Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana and Maharashtra. Swaroop Reddy, President, said the company is looking to strengthen its presence in the South with new launches planned in Puducherry, Hyderabad, Bengaluru and Mumbai in the next 9-12 months.

The company is also looking to grow beyond metros and will look at tier-II cities in Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu. “We see strong movie-going population in these regions,” Reddy said.

Places under consideration are Guntur, Tirupati, Nizamabad, Madurai, Salem, Tiruchi and Vellore. The company already has presence in Coimbatore and Warangal.

“Till date metros contribute to chunk of the business,” he said. But that does not mean tier-II towns do not have the potential,” Reddy added.

The company, which sees close to 8 lakh bookings on average per month, has been expanding rapidly for the past one year beyond its home ground Chennai. After launching a single screen in Mumbai last year, it expanded to Kerala, Karnataka and Telangana in the last few months.

While the player is a household name in Chennai, others are a new territory. Reddy agrees that market dynamics is different compared to Tamil Nadu, which has a pricing cap of ₹120. “We have flexible prices and create a different dynamics based on that, especially in Mumbai,” he said. The screens have different prices ranging from ₹100 to ₹350, which is attractive. “So far we have been doing well,” he added.

With more in the pipeline, Reddy said the expansion is not sudden rather the company had wanted to go beyond Chennai as long as 10 years ago. “It is only now everything is falling in place,” he added.

Cauvery Theatre to be converted to a 2 screen Cineplex with Dolby Atmos Effects and 4K Projection

Image

^^^^^^
To be opened after renovation and upgradation in Pongal 2018 with Dolby Atmos effect and 4K Projection which is now confirmed by theatre management itself

But they are keeping mum on Management change

It seems Chennai Based Jazz Cinemas has bought Cauvery Theatre----Possesion of this theatre by them looks more or less confirmed as per reliable sources

With this the number of Dolby Atmos screens in Trichy City rises to 7 :)
